About us
A friendly school, built around its children
Somerschool has been a warm, busy primary at the heart of Somerton since 2009. Here is our story, the people who run it, and what we stand for.
Somerschool opened in 2009 with two classes, a borrowed hall, and a simple belief: that small children learn best when they feel known, safe, and a little bit excited to come in each morning.
Fifteen years on, we are a full primary for ages 4 to 11, but that founding belief has not changed. Classes are kept small on purpose, so every teacher can know each child by name, pace, and what makes them light up.
We sit at the centre of our community. Parents help in the garden, neighbours come to our fairs, and our children grow up knowing the people around them.
